My top three Heisman favorites as of right now

As we are four weeks into the college football season, we begin to see the stars showing out.  This has been the case across all conferences so far with a very tight Heisman race.

Today, I am going to take a look at the top three Heisman award favorites right now.

#1: Baker Mayfield

Oklahoma’s signal caller has had an outstanding year so far, throwing for 1329 yards with 13 touchdowns and zero interceptions.  Mayfield has lead the Sooners to a 4-0 record including a road win at Ohio State a couple weeks ago.  On top of this, Mayfield has had his share of off-field antics which make him an incredibly intriguing character to watch this season.

#2: Saquon Barkley

The Penn State running back is coming off of the best game of his career against a stout Iowa defense this weekend.  Barkley ran for 211 yards and a touchdown and also caught 12 passes for 94 yards in what was an incredible all around game.  He already has rushed for 518 yards on the season and is averaging 7.8 yards per carry which puts him fourth in the nation for that category.  Barkley’s performance caught the eye of some big athletes on Twitter.

#3: Lamar Jackson

Last year’s winner has started off the year where he left off.  Jackson has thrown for over 1300 yards already as well as ten touchdowns to guide Louisville to a 3-1 record so far.  Not to be forgotten, he has also had two 100 yard plus rushing performances this season to add to the already potent Cardinal offense.  In a blowout win this Saturday, Jackson broke the Louisville touchdown record with his 88th career touchdown.

Who will it be? It is still incredibly early, however do not be surprised to see any one of these guys walk away with the legendary hardware in a couple months.
